... Not Just L.A., The City of Angels Is Everywhere...

I was age five when the bishop stood over me and said, "Stop babbling about what the priest did to you." Then, forty years later... I started babbling.

Sigh

.
Hundreds of thousands of children raped, almost systematically, served up to pervert priests like we were their entitlement, a benefit that came with the job.

And the Pope Pedophile Crime Ring is out of world news. Has not made the "top twenty" World News stories at any site for two-three weeks now.

The news media flow from whim to whim, one headline to the next, never digging any deeper than a phone call to a nonprofit for a quote, then onto the next story.

Sure there are blogging atheists here and there forming new nonprofits because of the pedophile priest scandal. But the real problem is mainstream news media. Reporters have stopped reporting. They work their beats by telephone and spend three hours on a story that needs weeks of interviews and research.

Not just on the topic of pervert priests has the News become the Snooze. The San Francisco Chronicle just did it this morning with state budget cuts. Column inches explaining charts that really explain themselves, then a phone call to the Childrens Whatever nonprofit to get the usual milquetoast statement. "Children will suffer," espouses Hoo Hah with great compassion in the voice. A quote that really says nothing, like David Clohessy calling the bishops "callous." Soon the news will be quoting the new nonprofit the atheists are forming for quotes about pedophile priests. As long as they get enough words to fill the column inches between the ads, they have done their job. Move onto the next story. Then in news outlets around the world those same quotes are repeated, verbatim, to fill their column inches.

Since those statements in the news are surrounded by quote marks and come from an "official spokesman," they are a big part of every news story. Not one picture of hungry kids in line at food banks. Not one day in the life of an adult victim of any number of crimes. Just a quote from a guy who runs a nonprofit and onto the next story.

And I'm too sick to post.

Sigh.
