... Not Just L.A., The City of Angels Is Everywhere...

I was age five when the bishop stood over me and said, "Stop babbling about what the priest did to you." Then, forty years later... I started babbling.

PippiLeaks: Fitzgerald recommends Matrimony for priests who cannot remain celibate, in 1961 letter to Bishop of Manchester re J. T. S.

.
The Founder of Servants of the Paraclete again recommends that a sexually offending priest stay at Via Coeli for life, in a letter marked "Personal" from Gerald Fitzgerald to Ernest J. Primeau, Bishop of Manchester, New Hampshire, scanned here click to enlarge.

This is another edition of PippiLeaks at City of Angels Blog, Papal Insider Pedophile Priest Information Leaks, where we start by posting 200-some documents from Servants of the Paraclete, which we carried in a bundle with us from Los Angeles to Albuquerque, don't ask why it took so long to post them*.

In this June 30, 19691, letter to Ernest J. Primeau, Fitzgerald writes of J.T.S., “What is quite disturbing in his and similar cases, there seems to be a generic lack of comprehension of the damage done by his past.”

Fitzgerald says he hesitates to recommend laicization in these cases, as, “Mother Church in Her present discipline leaves these men in the world but still under the obligation of celibacy,” which leaves the errant priest alone “to observe priestly chastity in the world when he obviously is not capable of observing it.”

He thinks salvation for priests in these cases lies in “The Sacrament of Matrimony.”

ON PAGE 2 Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald continues, after a good sampling of his lofty language that shows he spent a lot of time with his head in the clouds, lucky guy:

“Our Lord said, ‘Let him take it who can’ when referring to the celibate life.”

(Okay Side Trip: City of Angels Blog challenges anyone to find the Scripture that says “Let him who can take celibacy take it.” Please email me the citation when you have it, I don't remember ever hearing that in the Gospel, but I'm no scholar)

In this letter we do not ever find out who J.T.S. is, but from New Hampshire. In a Post Script Fitzgerald writes:

“P.S.: I will write to Your Excellency about the case of Father John Davy under separate cover.”

(You know what, that letter might be in the pile of docs I'm reading through, I just haven’t found it yet., meanwhile there is nothing listed at bishop accountability under John Davy. If anyone has an idea who J. T. S. from 1961 New Hampshire could be, please email Kay at cityofangleslady@yahoo.com )
